Studio

These are stickers which I installed around the studio. As shown, their applications can be varied even in a limited space.

Visuals

I was unable to get access to commerical space to install my 'sticker' designs, so I decided to create smaller versions in my flat.

Scale Up

I decided to increase the scale on my models in order to estimate the time needed to create my final piece. I am still unsure of what line quality I should use, but have adopted the flock vinyl in place of the drawn line to add texture to the piece.

Time Flies..

Its been a long, but progressive time since I last wrote. My work is developing weekly, and I'm currently working on more 3D pieces which I hope to expand once I decide whether to use the factor of line, a reference back to my drawings. The theme of versatility and adaptability seems to be rising, as I am keen not to limit my designs usage, and so hope they fit both commercially and domestically. In order to realise my ideas, I have also begun creating visualisations of my drawings in various locations, partly to convey their potential but also to gage their success rate.

Blueprints

Its becoming hard to stay on top of the blog, as my work often diverts from its course and so it appears uncoherent, though I promise their is reason for the divergence!

I felt a reached a breakthrough to help ground my work when I began looking at my drawings as blueprints, from which I could expand three dimensionally. With the aid of sketch up, I created models using my drawings as foundations to see visually how it would look, without spending hours creating it by hand. From there I have broadened my material base, and so have begun stitching my drawings onto fabrics to see the effect, though I am still unsure of their success. I am keen to keep the designs relatively simplistic, and so often keep the composition the same whilst I alter the materials and processes that I use, to show its adaptability.

New Ideas

After a somewhat disappointing assessment I've now got to get cracking in producing some amazing work.. I feel confident in my approach at the moment as I head down the design route, drawing motifs from crystals I have photographed. I'm keen to combine both 2D and 3D elements into my work, perhaps as relief for interiors. Ive just to keep the ideas flowing and the motivation coming!

Ice, Ice Baby!

This is a bit late, but I LOVE these icicles and mini domes that formed on my shrubbery, they're amazing! Now if only I could make them in resin...

New Year, New Blog

New Years Resolution number one: Keep Working! Its always a hard push after christmas so I've decided to try out setting up a blog to see if it keeps me motivated. Time will tell! At the minute im struggling with finding new ideas to develop in my final project, I've been studying rocks and crystals for 13 weeks now and its starting to tire! I had a materials review with tutor Isabel who told me to stop avoiding fabric and stick to my strengths! She was, unfortunately right on many points, I had gotten carried away with using new materials such as plaster and resin and needed to hone in on the skills I have learnt in the past two years. And with that, I shall go and purchase some exciting material, and do goodness knows what with it! Thats if I ever get out from the snow. Yay!
